Switch it Up!
Custom fitting your driver just got a whole lot more interesting! With the new Callaway I-Mix system and the Taylor Made r7 CGB Max Limited Driver, you now have the option of interchanging heads and shafts with the twist of your hand.
In general, launch conditions and trajectory of your drives can be altered through two methods: by changing the loft of your driver; or by changing the shaft of your driver for different torque, flex, and kick point characteristics. Using new screw-in technologies approved by the USGA, both Callaway and Taylor Made have developed a system of shafts and heads that can be mixed and matched by you, the golfer. You now have the ability to swap different shafts into your driver head, or to change your driver head loft while keeping your favorite shaft—all without having to purchase a new driver.
Playing conditions often require a different type of golf shot. On a hot, windy day in August, when the fairways are firm, you want a lower trajectory. When conditions are wet and soft, as they are when our courses open in the spring, you want more carry. By purchasing a variety of shafts with different playing characteristics, or two different lofted heads, you can adapt your driver based on the course conditions, rather than adapting your swing.
We all go through stretches when our swing feels effortless…and times when it feels the opposite! Switching to a higher loft when your swing is not grooved will help you get the ball back in the fairway and start to rebuild your confidence. Once your swing returns, go back to a lower loft for better trajectory and more distance.
The Callaway I-Mix system offers a variety of shaft and head options that can be purchased individually based on your needs. The Taylor Made r7 CGB Max Limited Driver is available in a pre-pack of one head and three uniquely different shafts. In either case, you can custom fit your driver to your swing and to the playing conditions you face day to day.
